Needles Make Forests

Looking out across the lake
I saw
A black mass of trees
probably pine
The metal railing I held
felt synthetic,
undeserving,
in this natural landscape
The water below me
unchanged by its subterranean ecosystems
acted
a mirror for the sun
By day
since gone
and for the trees
constantly
The only constant in this world is change
Does that not apply to the stars?
They are not of this Earth
Pinholes in the sheet that is the night
they wait there
like matches
in the sky's outstretched hand

Never like to turn my lights down
I'm afraid that sunlight gives me social skills
Wanna drive into a snow bank?
Just to see how it feels
I wanna burn my house down
But all I have are wet matches

Sunlight Blinds
01:59
|
|||
I can't fight no more
I can't cry no more
I can see the light
I don't want to know
I don't see sky no more
I can't fly no more
She's so far away
I can't sigh no more
Why can't it just be over?
Why can't I just close my eyes?
Why does it have to be over?
Why does the sunlight have to blind me?

I saw you in the rain
so I called your name
You didn't hear me
so I said it again
You turned around
and saw me there
You looked so scared

The world seemed off today
My rubber soles were sticky
Metal plates replaced holes in the ground
Streets appeared where they weren't before
I took a different road home
But I ended up in the same place though
The sun shone in my eyes on the bridge
While my shadow got run over
I nearly saw an accident
Think I'd have rather gotten hit again
But I'm
on the sea
And I
feel free
And I
I feel
My eyes
can't feel
can't deal
can't feel
can't deal
can't feel

The Wind Whispers
00:44
|
|||
We walked across the lake
Under the moonless sky
Into the black trees
Our shoes dissolved against the smoothness of leaves,
freshly fallen
We felt free
The wind whipping our long hair,
we ran,
no friction to bind us
to the outside world
The moonlight danced across our faces
The cold whispered to us
"Run, and you will be free"
